No. 0     Original Topic:  Canadian Gathering
By:  Obadiah   Gender: F   Age: 43   on  Nov 6, 2007 at 8:23 AM   Viewed 70339 times
So we have decided to have another one this Saturday on the 10th of Nov.
So far Annette, Braveheart and Sari(not sure if this is your profile still?) are going to come. A couple from my Church may show up.

There are no definite plans but we are either going to go out to eat for lunch or order in. Then if its a nice day there is a new natural area that I hear is one of the bigger ones in the area that has trails to walk on.

If its not nice then we may either go to Christ the Way Bookstore and rent a video or maybe we can play two of my games, stop thief or clue.

Last time we seemed to past the time eating and chatting so I guess we will play it by ear depending on the weather. I am really looking forward to going on a walk Perhaps when one day we will all have to go to the Elora gorge or on the Bruce trail.

Also depending how long everyone stays we can go to a church service if everyone is interested. A new Church in the area is having their open house that night before their Service. They do a Saturday evening service. on sunday a 930 bible study then their 10:30 service which will go into lunch that day then to their 2:30 service, into supper and then their evening service. Sunday is their Building dedication. Kathy and I were invited Sunday, she is going Saturday evening. So if people are interested in doing that we can go over for that , the open house is at 6 and the service is at 7.

One year we will all have to plan a day at the African lion safari or maybe The Cristkindl Christmas Market downtown Kitchener. http://www.christkindlcanada.com/

I guess I should say were the Gathering is, its here in Kitchener, Ontario.

That was why I was thinking Karen should have someones cell number in case her plans do not work. Kathy will be with us but is going to go over to the new Church's open house at 6 and for their service at 7. If she gets picked up the woman said she would be there before 6 otherwise if everyone wants to go to the service she can come with us.

Wondering if everyone is interested in the farmers market then have to figure out which one. I have to remember there is a man with us and got to make sure the stuff we do is not too girly He may not be interested in St. Jacobs downtown like us women would be checking out all the touristy stuff. Sari said St. Jacobs would interest her not sure if she meant the market or downtown or both.

I think its good to have options to pick from rather then only one idea that ends up not working.

Drew have you eaten at the Turkish place up at homer watson/Bleams rd? its called Donair & Kebab House. Maybe if I have time I can take the buses over to see what the place looks like and also over to weber to see the Masla grill at howard johnsons. I do have a coupon for Masala Grill for half priced buffets for every second person in the group and its 8.99 for the buffet. Have you ever been there Drew?

The menu is at this link.

One place that is really good but closed saturday, but something to keep in mind should we have a gathering in the future during the week.some of their food reminds me of Indian foods. their mango shake was sooooo good. And because I am gluten free I can eat there and not cheat.

The farmers market has a few of the cities restaurants selling their food. I like classic indian and the mexican one. the cactus salad is so good. If it was not 45 min away and everyone traveled so far we could have gone to Anna Mae's its owned and run by mennonites.
at least the turkish place has a take out menu if we decide to eat at my place.

Deb
You always do such a great job when you cook... I was at that Turhish Rest. I did not like it and it is way over priced. I have not been to the Masla Grill so I am not sure about that one. Remember I do not eat much so as long there is soup I am ok. The market would be pretty cold right now ...I guess it is inside too even though ...but that would be something you guys can do before I get off work. Anyway looking forward to it ...see you guys soon.

Oh, Oh, Oh-I wish I could come! Frank was telling me about this. Why don't you all come here? (lol) I would love to meet all of you.

Getting in and out of Canada is ridiculous. I did send away for a certified copy of my Birth Certificate-who knows how long it will take though.

I hope you all have a wonderful time.

Sorry to have missed those who couldn't come yesterday. We did lots of walking and talking and eating. And spent time with Deb's friend Kathy, too.

Thanks, Braveheart and Obadiah, for sharing of yourselves -- it was great getting to know you better. Let's do it again -- soon -- and hopefully, others will have a chance to join us!!

Yes that was 3 who did not make it. We did have fun. We went on the natural area trail for a long walk. then went to the Turkish place to eat around 2 pm then came back for a wee bit then took D'Arcy for a walk around 6pm for half an hour and came back had ate again.

I am glad you and Braveheart made it and loved the theological discussion we had that started at supper and I guess you guys did not leave at 8pm like you had planned We never did get to the craft show or to the art thing going on but had fun.

Next year we will have to plan on the Elora Gorge, African Lion Safari or something.
