Here is a run down of the new tax plan that passed (and should be signed in before Christmas):

https://www.thebalance.com/trump-s-tax-plan-how-it-affects-you-4113968

It eliminates personal exemptions and itemized deductions (but allows for charity and mortgage still to be deducted) and doubles the standard deduction. It allows for a 10k state deduction as well (much higher, but one must chose still which route to take if wanting a deduction for property tax).

I see a lot of offsets (since a personal exemption is eliminated and that was over $4000.00 and this bill will certain change how ppl file and states it provides tax breaks across the board (which was nice to see).

There will be some whose taxes will increase in 2018.

Fortune gives the following advice for people (largely to increase charitable giving before Jan 1).

With the alleged 'ease' of filing promised beginning 2018 (although some tax changes will not take affect until 2019), this could stop the need for tax preparers (which could limit some jobs; I have always done my own taxes), but I personally don't think Americans should have had to hire tax accountants just to file taxes ... so I'm unsure how the changes will affect me personally (with the loss of the personal exemption and itemized deductions), but it is a change that was promised and I do appreciate when Presidential candidates live up to their promises.

I don't know yet if this will help me personally or hurt but I am hopeful it will help our nation. It seems unlikely we can avert total financial disaster but we will have to learn to sacrifice sooner or later.

I prefer sooner, in smaller doses.

As an older pastor told me one time ...

" If you don't have a fire ... fan the sparks. " "

May the " sparks of change " continue in the direction we need to go.
