#1 should be not to even be there in the first place!

One should have evacuated to a safer area long before it gets there and does it's damage.

And before the long lines of traffic form, Gasoline shortages, etc.

With most Hurricanes there is usually plenty of advance warning in time to evacuate.

Harvey recently was an exception and formed in just 48 or so hours.

However thee rest of this thread is dedicated to "surviving" should one get trapped in a hurricane situation.

Offer up your tips and or suggestions to this thread in order to help others in the future....

When I Vacationed on Sanibel Island years ago which is currently being clobbered by Hurricane Irma I noticed signs EVERYWHERE on Sanibel island as well as in the Ft. Myers area that said, "HURRICANE EVACUATION ROUTE".

It was a very sobering reminder that although it was paradise down there, Mother Nature sometimes unleashes her full fury! :icon_eek:
