Tropical Storm Jose Forms in the Atlantic

Meteorologist Heather Tesch forecasts Tropical Storm Jose in the Atlantic.

Story Highlights

Another tropical storm has formed in the Atlantic Ocean.

Jose is well east of the Lesser Antilles.

Jose will likely become a hurricane by later in the week.

Interests in the Lesser Antilles should monitor the progress of Jose, in addition to Irma, closely.

Tropical Storm Jose has become the 10th named storm of the 2017 Atlantic hurricane season, well east of Hurricane Irma.

(MORE: Hurricane Central)

The National Hurricane Center named Jose late Tuesday morning, located about 1,400 miles east of the Lesser Antilles.

Jose Current Storm Info

The highest cloud tops, corresponding to the most vigorous convection, are shown in the brightest red colors. Clustering, deep convection around the center is a sign of a healthy tropical cyclone.

Jose is expected to gain strength the next few days and become a hurricane later in the week as it tracks toward the west-northwest.

By this weekend, Jose is then expected to slow down and turn northwest. However, how close Jose comes to the northern Lesser Antilles before making that turn remains uncertain.

Jose Projected Path

The red-shaded area denotes the potential path of the center of the tropical cyclone. Note that impacts (particularly heavy rain, high surf, coastal flooding) with any tropical cyclone may spread beyond its forecast path.

Jose could begin to feel some increasing wind shear partly due to outflow winds aloft from Hurricane Irma, which may put a crimp on its intensification.

For now, all residents of the Lesser Antilles, including areas to be hard hit from Irma, should also monitor for the latest on Jose's forecast.

Check back with weather.com for updates in the days ahead for the latest details on these two areas to watch."

Another one to look out for. It was predicted to be a rough Hurricane season this year and it's turning out to be so.

Jose is a Cat 1 per the National Hurricane Center, a division of NOAA:

the cat number changes. It was a 4. And if she is now a 1 she's gonna be back a 4 more than likely soon enough.

Although some areas may feel the effects with 75mph winds Tuesday.

Hurricane Jose and Hurricane Maria might soon be be playing a, "Swing your partner round and round" type dance called the, "Fujiwhara Effect" similar to the way a, "Tilt A Whirl" moves at your local Carnival.

You can read about it here:
