No. 0     Original Topic:  What I Like About MC ...
By:  RadioPreacherMan   Gender: M   Age: 59   on  Aug 21, 2017 at 6:42 AM   Viewed 1747 times
We may not always " agree " with one another ... but people are being honest. I would rather know where people stand ... than to not know where they stand at all. There is a way of being honest without being harsh or blunt about it.

People are " sincere " here. Even though we may have our moments at times, people do care about this website and welcome those who come into the forums ... encouraging them to participate.

Everyone is learning as we go. MC is a good place to meet other Christians and associate with other people ... even if you do not desire to have any discussions with those who hold other views about God or the Bible ... each person can weigh out what's being said ... and learn more of how to respond to the topics being presented ... rather than get caught up in what we think of each other.

Just like living in any other " community of people " or any neighborhood having a variety of people coming from different backgrounds ... we learn how to " interact " ... how to be ... among others.

I like being here among all of you. :2thumbs:

Devaprakash -- I forget how long you've been married to your lovely wife ... how long has it been? I would like to congratulate you again.

On the OP:

Thankfulness! A topic I love because it increases inner joy and focus on what is good.

For me I like that there are members here that have advanced knowledge than myself in things (such as computers) and so I've found MC to be at times a place of learning. Even in Theo with Verbatim and Jeff still present...I have learned in areas I am deficient in.

I do agree about sincerity as well (although I wish most of the sincerity could be done in private over thread forums). Most here are of a more advanced age than myself (although I am old at 50) and I do believe most misunderstandings can be worked out in private. If it's public quarreling desired or bashing or assassination of another -- it's not good).

Thanks RPM. A good thread idea. I like that we have those like yourself in forums -- those focused more on the Lord (not dating) and less on the negative of the site (or judging others all the time) here in forums among us.

Really? well maybe the name of the site should be datechristians dot com instead of meetchristians dot com. Dating sites do get more attention than God as sad as that is. Too much focus on getting a date and not enough focus on God. It reminds me of kids who go to church not to hear about God but just to see their school friends, Ya know they go for the wrong reason.

Although founded as such and still promoted as such, I think MC has migrated to be something else as far as the forums go.

It does appear there is dating activity going on amongst those that never post in the forums.

I do not participate in the forums on sites were as I have dated someone. And neither do they.

I agree with you, Survivor on this.

Forum participation is low on sites with dating unfortunately.

I am not so sure I consider that unfortunate. My experience has been if a site is intended for dating and has forums, too much "dirty laundry" is aired in those forums.

that does happen becuase those kind of christians dont know to act. But dirty laundry can be aired with people who are not married as I have seen it happen amongst members that were same sex freinds right here on mc. That happens because people tell people too much about themseves and then when the friend gets mad all sorts of private things are told in order to anger or hurt the other person. So it isn't just amongst married couples.

Don't you know that majority of people go to a church for three things, namely, hatching, matching and dispatching; that is to say for infant baptism for membership, fishing for a partner and last rites!(!)

There are instances in MC that people have found their partners through participation in the Forums and also through private mails. A few of them even after marriage continue to participate though less frequently.

Such a blessing found here on MC through others here who share this testimony! For us who were here...just so wonderful to witness these lasting marriages!

Yes, it is honorable, not holy. If the couple carry out the responsibility of raising a family then it a celebration daily.

exactly. Posters end up just being here for the conversation and exchange of thought. Even if the original arrival was for something else.

But many here are still livin in a fantasy world.

Here's another one .... what I like about MC ...

It's the " anticipation " of never knowing for sure ... what's going to " pop up " in the forums ... who will be posting ... and what views will be shared by a variety of people.

I look forward to getting up in the morning and taking a look at the forums ... and " checking in " throughout the day ... just to see " what's happening."

I have to admit ... it has taught me to " regulate " my time here ... because if I am not careful ... I see myself wanting to be online here too much and too often.

So ... the " curiosity " can get the best of me at times ... but again ... I do like being here among all of you ... simply because ... it shows me everyone is " living life " and making it through it all ... learning as we go.

I believe this is something that should be brought back/utilized
today with all the charm/Pomp/fanfare of FoodCarts,
'Umpa Bands',midgets n'eunuchs. ((laughin))

the left and right anarchists already come assembled/prepared wearing

What I like about MC:

It's a wake up call in more ways than one; An amazing venture into human nature that reflects many aspects of ourselves if we're willing to see it.
We quickly learn that it 'really is not about me', lol.
We discover hidden thoughts that folks just do not share/have no reason to share perhaps in our daily in-person communications.
One can study how others interact and see growth or denial.
Some are totally transparent, whether they know it or not. ~grin
I can share thoughts/ideas here and often get 'honest' feedback from a greater variety of sources. And the feedback is instant, if I'm not on the 'ignore list' this week. ~big grin
I would NEVER have seen behind the Religion curtain enough to understand the depths of differing views people hold and defend and what lengths people will resort to to be 'right'!

I've learned to face persecution in a sense...
If I'm dead in Christ I should not be offended by people who disagree, or even attack my beliefs or simply who I am. His (God/Jesus/Holy Spirit/Yeshua/YHWH etc... ) opinion is truly the only one I'm concerned about.
I've learned what light I have to shine will only be received by those I can connect with on a spiritual level.
I've had help improving my vocabulary/spelling/punctuation (thanks Dev) and many other things. Free group therapy! Who knew?!
As you see I could still use a bit of help here!!!
There are a few here that share interesting resources and continue to help me stretch and grow.
I'm a better Christian, a better citizen, better Mom and friend, imho, due to feedback I've experienced here.
I pray that my occasional swim through the fish bowl offers others something useful as well.

God Bless!

God Bless!

If you have ever communicated with much of the membership base privately, one finds that many are here seeking a one on one relationship. Especially those in other countries. Most these folks never post in the forums.

When you invite them to do so, many respond that they have checked it out and find it to not be for them as Christians.

The stats indicate there is a very small handful of the membership base of MC that does any posting.

That's sad, really. One would hope, or at least I do, that as a Christian, you could come in and be an influence and not shy away.

Absolutely ! I agree ! :2thumbs:

I like to think of myself like a " coffee bean " ... infiltrating through the water ... where everyone can also ... " smell " the difference.

Free to Be Me ... Here at MC !

The general boundaries are set ... there is a LIMIT on what goes on here ... and of course ... everyone can learn what their own personal boundaries will be, as they interact with others.

The members of the " Evaluation Team " ( saying what they think about you ) are slowly fading away ...

Thank God !

The website is a very good place to share and read about the different perspectives people have on a variety of TOPICS being presented. :2thumbs:

:2thumbs:

Worth Repeating ... :wavey:

Okay ... one more ... What I Like About MC ...

I had mentioned this in another thread ... and decided to mention it here in this one.

Everyone has the opportunity to learn ... when, how, and if to interact with others.

Here's another one ... What I Like About MC ...

As the different TOPICS are being presented ... it's interesting to me to see which topic attracts the attention of others or not.

Sometimes ... it seems like some are only looking for something to fuss over ... but for the most part ... I do enjoy seeing and wondering what topic will pop up next.

I dont know but I know what I dont like about it. I dont like it when people make threads that don't glorify God such as threads to put down on someone they don't like and they try to hide their bad self in carefully choosing what and how they say it as if God don't know their intentions behind it but unfortunately for them, God knows. You would think they would understand that they can't hide their true intentions from God since they claim to know him so well and all. all it really means is their heart is far from him.

anyway, its late and im tired. see you all tomorrow.
