No. 0     Original Topic:  Prayer for a Friend ...
By:  RadioPreacherMan   Gender: M   Age: 59   on  Mar 20, 2017 at 6:36 AM   Viewed 3218 times
I have a dear friend ... 83 years old ... his name is Hertsel. He had a massive stroke yesterday ... left side is paralyzed. My wife and I went to visit him at the hospital yesterday ... don't know much yet ... will be a day by day wait and see situation.

Prayers will be appreciated ... public or private.

Heavenly Father,

A simple prayer request for our friend ... just take care of Him. Amen

Very sad. I watched my Dad recover from a stroke and he was at full force, but it took some time. His heart never gave him trouble afterwards though.

I pray the same for your friend where two are more are gathered.

I will be visiting my friend today at the hospital. He is still going through a bunch of tests and evaluations. He can swallow thickened drinks and applesauce. Thanks again for all the prayers.

It's been a long day ... but a good day ! My friend is very much at peace.

Sounds like he is brain dead on the right side of his brain. He can talk, but only one or two words at a time. When we had prayer together, he said AMEN ... good and loud ... and saying it like he meant it.

He will be moving to a regular room and then we will see what happens from there. God's knows what is best, and we know He will help us to accept it.

Amen !

I would love to Pray for this dear man Hertsel. Before I do, I would like to say that what you have shared concerning his stroke is very appreciated. Although he is up in age, he does have a very good chance of recovering with Physical Therapy. Beside a good Dr. who would care for him. The fact is, that he is able to swallow, and use his voice right now, "is a good sign." A couple words right now is better than, "None." Praise the Lord! So, as we gather here together in agreement We bring to the foot of the cross your beloved Son, Hertsel, Jesus. We know when you walked among men you healed so many of your chosen vessels. So we reach out our hands and touch his body, in our minds eye, and place them on Hertsel. We ask that by your Holy Spirit, and our Faith in you, that you would "heal him" from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. That he will with the help of your servants begin to show more and more improvement each and every day. That his recovery will be in full no matter the length of time. That the Dr's and nursing staff, and everyone else involved in his care shall witness with there eyes the great miracles you preform. That just by healing Hertsel other lives would be touched, and forever changed as well! We ask this for your Honor and Glory. Bring a wonderful peace upon the family and friends of his. I pray they all would be a big encouragement to him. Offering Love, that comes from your heart to him! Thank you for all the great and wonderful things you do, when we put our Faith and Trust in you! We all know that there is no greater authority in heaven, and on earth that can say the word and Hertsel be healed! Jesus Christ we praise you and worship you with all our hearts and souls. Thank you for your love, and mercy in our hours of need! We pray this in your Holy and Blessed name Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen!:group_prayer:

Spiritually ... Hertsel is very much at peace ... he is at rest with the Lord. During my last visit with him ... before I offered prayer ... I asked him ...

" Are You Willing for the Lord to Have His Way " ???

Hertsel can speak a word or two. He is completely aware of what's going on around him. When he speaks, we have to hold our head down in front of his face to hear him. When I asked if he was willing for the Lord to have His way ... I did not have to bend down close to his face to hear his answer.

With one word ... Hertsel said it little louder with emphasis behind it ...

YEP !

We had a short prayer together and when I said " Amen " .... again ... we did not have to strain our ears to hear him ... for he repeated with assurance ...

AMEN ! :2thumbs:

His son ( being there during the prayer ) told me later how God brought him comfort during that prayer.

Hertsel is now in a regular room and will be moving on to a local nursing home for therapy. His son is making plans to bring his Dad home once he gets the home health nurses worked out.

Again, we thank you all for your prayers.

We know God will help Hertsel, his family, and his friends to accept whatever God has in mind ... and to be willing ... for the Lord to have His way !

Now, we wait and see ... as we put our trust in God to reveal His decision.

God Bless All of You ! :cloud9:

Just got back from the nursing home. Hertsel is not eating much, and he is getting weaker. I could understand some of what he was saying, but it was plain to see his thoughts were scattered at times. After a brief talk and prayer together, he went to sleep ( being at peace ).

Before Hertsel went to sleep, he told me he was talking with the Lord. I know the Lord will comfort him. I know the Lord is with my friend ( resting in Christ ).

I am sure sending prayers your way and for the family and friends of the family. So many passing as of lately and the change is certainly silencing for those suffering more so than anything else I think we experience in life. My friend who just lost his dad talks about the 'quietness' we experience (never being able to speak with our loved ones again).

May the Good Lord Bless and thanks for the update, RPM...however sad.

I am so sorry RPM, for the Lost of your friend. I will be in prayer for the Family, and you as well, as you give the "Eulogy". Its never easy letting go, but their comes a time in every ones life when we have to say our final good-byes, knowing, and sometimes not knowing. Either way it goes, he has gained the Honor now to be in the presents of the Lord. His face is lit up with a glow. His work is done. His suffering has come to the final end. He rest at peace. God bless you.:group_prayer:

Again ... thank you all for your prayers. The arrangements are now made. Viewing will be this Sunday. The funeral will be on Monday - 1:00 pm.

I am currently waiting to know what message God wants me to share with Hertsel's family and friends. I have a sense there will be several people at the funeral.

My prayer is ...

" Let them know, Lord, You are here with what You want them to hear. "

I'm back ... but I am tired and emotionally drained. The funeral is over.

Hertsel was a true ... Friend in Christ ! A good balance of honesty and kindness. The family was thankful for everything, and we had a good meal together at Hertsel's favorite restaurant ( just down the road from where he is buried ).

Hertsel liked to " meet and eat. " We would gather together for worship at the Holiday Inn Express and on occasion ... go directly to the Cracker Barrel less than a block away.

The last meal we all had together with Hertsel ( at Cracker Barrel ) was to celebrate my birthday. We had the meal on the last Sunday in February. My birthday was on March 7th. He wanted to have the meal with us before he had his surgery. He was recuperating and getting better during the first two weeks of March ... then he had a massive stroke.

We are so thankful we had this last " meet and eat " with Hertsel ... when he was still with us. He truly enjoyed our gatherings. This is the best way to describe our time together ...

Friendly people ... helping each other ... gathering peacefully !

I'm going to rest up for awhile. I was able to have a good afternoon nap today, but I'm still grieving.

I sure did appreciate all of your prayers. God is comforting us !

As Hertsel would say ... " Love Ya "

RPM,

Thanks for the update. It is so difficult when good friends go home to the Lord before us (and family). When my Uncle passed last year, I just sat alone in tears for a good hour (also in shock). It was shortly after my furbaby passed and it was my Uncle who comforted me. I talked to my Uncle on a deeper level. He was my favorite Uncle and my Dad's only brother. Then in a couple of months, another person in my personal life passed (not as close, but an old friend that passed far too young), then Judy whom I was very close too for about a decade passed when my Mom was in an out of the hospital with pneumonia (it was pneumonia that took the life of Curtis here on MC). Needless to say quite a difficult year, but I feel blessed my Mom survived pneumonia (she's like the energizer bunny...cancer gone, but has held a lot of other ailments that are life threatening). Still we don't know how long she has (she yelled at a nurse yesterday that was trying to put her in a wheel chair and she said, I'm not dying and I'm not dead and can walk...made me glad, although I apologized to the nurse).

I understand being tired. I gave a talk/read a poem of my Dad's at his funeral. It was also the first funeral I attended (I am getting better as I age, but I don't do death well).

I am certain the Lord gave you this last meal with your friend and I am glad you made it through the eulogy.

Continuing to pray for the Lord's blessings upon you, RPM!
