Our youngest son and I operate an auto repair business. Repairs can be expensive and people can have difficulty in coming up with the money to pay the repair bill.

This young lady had some minor repairs done on her car about three weeks ago. I was not at the shop when she came in to settle her bill, so our son handled the situation. She did not have enough money to pay the bill.

The policy is to not let any vehicle off the lot until the bill is paid, but in this particular situation our son let the young lady take the car. She said she would be back to pay the bill.

One week passed, then two weeks ... and we concluded she would not be back.

Yesterday, this young lady came in the shop with the cash to pay her bill. She told me she was a single mother with a 3 year old son. She is out on her own, working, going to college, and raising her son. I told her we understand ... sometimes there is more month than money.

As she handed me the money, I shook her hand and told her how much I admired seeing a young person facing life's difficulties and keeping her word.

She smiled, walked toward the door, and turned with another big smile on her face and said " thank you. " I pray something was said or done that encouraged her to keep moving through the difficulties ... showing character as she walks through them.

I believe it was a " happy ending " for all of us. A young lady giving her word and keeping it ... a young son giving her a break and allowing her a little time ... being supportive when things were not going right.

Amen ? Amen !
