No. 0     Original Topic: A coyote or fox? Shall I open a zoo?
By:  CAsandie   Gender: F   Age: 48   on  Mar 23, 2015 at 4:37 PM   Viewed 9524 times
Sitting on the porch, a reddish black canine with rounded ears stood in the driveway (didn't have my cell to take a photo). It looked like a wild dog from the zoo because of the ears. We looked an each other for a bit (quite beautiful) and when I tried to approach, he/she took off.

Walking to the driveway, a neighbor was on the hill with a pellet gun looking for the animal and stated it is a coyote, however I am not sure. Researching it looks like black or dark morph red fox. It was large though, which throws me.

It did not look like the yellow/gray that I thought and seen here at all:

What a beautiful animal, but I keep seeing wild life here I've never seen in all the years I've lived in San Diego (and it some instances my entire life)!

I'm taking a poll on what I will see next! (big foot)?

Ca...It's spring, and there is a drought there so I hear, so animals go where they can find water, food and raid trash cans.

ListenandHear -- we have huge boulders up on the hill and we had a squirrel that used to sit on top of the rocks and look around (cute little guy). One day he disappeared along with one of our stray cats (who we named Bandit. He lived in the rocks too). Bandit never bothered the squirrel and the squirrel didn't bother Bandit. Big Black birds were in our yard after they disappeared.

(we miss the two of them).

Crayons -- is that what is going on? Seriously we have shopping within walking distance and although no apartment buildings...homes galore...yet a zoo at our house!!

Okay so I have one squirrel in the poll!!

Nothing like wildlife. (the natural kind) You are not yet to zoo category yet though, wait until a bobcat or two show up.. or a black bear.

It beats urban congestion.

Just a little while ago as I was walking home from the train Station after working a 12 hour shift today 1 block from home here I saw 2 black rabbits in someone's front yard. They must be some domesticated pets of somebody's that got loose at one time. Wild rabbits around here are normally a grey color.

Not sure about a Zoo, But turning your house into a private hunting lodge would be so cool!

With a rule that you only shoot what you will eat.

You see.. In California, Liberal critters hide behind the government to protect them,to feed them, even save trees to house them using property laws and sanctuaries. making them fat and lazy to hunt for food.

Animals picketing, with signs saying...."GO VEGAN"!! Taking over the country...Like in Illinois...Obama's home. No hunting allowed. and they are way over populated. Running out onto Highways and cars hitting them.

So its a win win situation. I and a bunch of southerners clear out them liberals critters and bring home the meat. And you get to relax. Knowing they are all gone and can sleep at night!

Kari -- but I have the urban congestion! It's why it's so shocking all these critters are showing up. Where I lived before was up a slight hill as well, but not the amount of creatures. ... LOL @ the hunting cartoon!

Curtis -- Liberals! That is it...I'm getting my gun! (joking)!

Bullfighter -- we have wild bunnies as well (all colors, but most are gray with cotton tails). We have the misfortune of watching the cats eat them if caught. . (I usually run indoors and wait until it is over. They tend to leave no trace of the animal...either that or my Mom is hiding it from me and not telling me).

Listenandhear -- You have an admirer and you are still my only pollee (that is not a word)! Yesterday I saw a huge rooster squawking outside and a hummingbird...no squirrel yet!

We have Hunting in IL. Lots of it! IL Is definitely a pro hunting State!

Coyote Hunting season is almost a whole year long, except during Deer Hunting season.

Coyotes are so prevalent here they are considered nuisance animals.

I have run into them at the office building I work at.

You can hear packs of them howling within a few block radius of where I live.

I have seen them jogging throughout our neighborhoods.

A couple of hours ago I opened a back door here at work and saw a large Coyote about 40' away doing something in the snow.

I said to him, "Hello Mr. Coyote, what ya doin there?".

He sauntered off in the other direction upon hearing my voice.
