They strolled down the lane together.
The sky was studded with stars.
They reached the gate together,
and he lifted for her the bars.
She raised her brown eyes to him.
There was nothing between them now.
But he was just a farmer boy,
and she - a Jersey cow.

Purple Cow

I never saw a Purple Cow,
I never hope to see one;
But I can tell you, anyhow,
I'd rather see than be one.

"Purple Cow" is a short nonsense poem by American writer Gelett Burgess. It was first published in 1895.

Burgess came to resent its popularity. A few years after writing the poem, Burgess wrote another short poem in response, titled "Confession: and a Portrait Too, Upon a Background that I Rue", which appeared in the final issue of The Lark in April of 1897:

Ah, yes, I wrote the "Purple Cow"
I'm Sorry, now, I wrote it;
But I can tell you Anyhow
I'll Kill you if you Quote it!

We already have our good fellowship and encouragement from the Good Lord, Jesus Christ.

In Him alone ... whether we receive it from other people or not.

There are times when we " find " His good fellowship and encouragement in others here on MC ... but more importantly ...

We can " offer " the good fellowship and encouragement we have in Him.

Good to have you here on MC Greendiamond ... offering His good fellowship and encouragement in you ... with us !

Thank you for sharing this Friend.....

Yes, I am faithful
to offer my desire for fellowship,
when encountering other Believers.....
And respect their response
toward my expressed desire
as God's direction
for relationships in my life.
If there persists, a resistance
toward my seeking to join a fellowship,
I assume there is some
unfinished work in my person
that will hinder their peace
and pursuit of a life that worships God.

Greendiamond ...

It's always good to " examine " ourselves before the Lord and to seek Him and His insight. If there is an " unfinished " work in us, let Him be the One ... the Only One ... to point it out to you ( for He is much more truthful, loving, patient, kind, and gentle ).

We can also have some solid Christian friends ( people we get to know and trust more than others ) who can stand by us to bring something to our attention, but even then ... we need to take it back to the Lord in prayer ... and allow Him to confirm it to us.

If we see the immaturity of others showing through in their responses to us ... we need to be careful they do not influence how the Lord is leading us ... you know what I mean ? It could be the Lord is bringing out an " unfinished " work in them ... hey ?

Always a Friend in Christ ... RPM

thank you Marvin.....

...there will always be an unfinished work within me....
and my time, during this temporal life
can not be squandered,
resisting any occasion of correction
that is not "truthful, loving, patient, kind or gentle"....
nor can I hold out for "solid Christian friends".....
whom I "know and trust."

God mostly uses "incomplete" people
like me....
to chasten and correct.....flawed.....
people who are incomplete in
being truthful, loving, patient,
kind and gentle....
people like me......
who are sometimes,
not solid Christians.....
but doubleminded,....
and unfaithful to God's
requirements for unceasing repentance....

these incomplete people
are used of God to humble me
and cause me to run to Him for comfort...
their ways can be unkind and judgemental,
leaving me broken,
needing God's love and peace.
I am grateful to God
for His great mercy toward me,
keeping me in the safest place.....
at the foot of the cross....
a place where pride does not cause
me to forget my desperate need for God
and keeps within me,
a pure and honest worship for Him.

...life's a school....:coffeenpc:

You are welcome !

Just wanted to make sure you were not " putting yourself down " as a person ( knowing as the song says ... God is still working on me ).

We have enough people putting us down. No need for us to do it to ourselves. That would be like hitting yourself over the head with a hammer. It gives you something to do, but it does more harm than good.

Good posting with ya !

A dairy farmer from Kansas was milking a cow outside. A tornadao slipped up behind him and blew the cow away so suddenly....he was left holding the bag.

Several of the other cows saw what happened, got shook up and jumped the fence. It was udder destruction.
