| Perhaps the most pride-deflating thing for mankind to realize is how humble and meek God is. God is longsuffering, kind, does not envy, does not vaunt himself, is not puffed up, does not behave himself unseemly, seeks not his own glory, is not easily provoked, does not think any evil (sinful) thought; he does not rejoice in iniquity, but he rejoices in the truth; he bears all things for our sakes, is faithful in all things, gives us all things through Jesus Christ so we can abound in hope, and endures all things by the power of his great love wherewith he loved us, even when we were dead in sins, [he] hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus: That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
Perhaps this point, then, needs to be driven home more often, because man has a tendency to see God as he, the man, is. God is not a tyrant at all, but man often is. Nor is God prideful at all nor is God arrogant at all, but man often is. This is why God is totally just in destroying his enemies. This is also why, before God justly destroys all of his enemies, he desires everyone to come to repentance, because he does not want the people he created to die in their sins. God is full of mercy and grace. Have you ever wondered why God doesn't just destroy all those right now who boast against him? He is not like us at all; he is far above us in his thoughts and ways, and it's worth sitting up and taking notice of, and then deeply pondering it in your heart.
"But love ye your enemies, and do good, and lend, hoping for nothing again; and your reward shall be great, and ye shall be the children of the Highest: for he is kind unto the unthankful and to the evil." - Luke 6:35
