Having taken the night train (17 hrs) to Iasi for Carmen's exams, we took the day train home.

Left at zero darkthirty.

It was a little faster than this

Last Big Train Station before the Mountains

Leaving the big mountains behind

Cannot get away from hauling hay--at least I had Carmen to help me here

Yes, quite a contrast between the big cities and the country, although there were chickens and geese in the back yard of a house next to our hotel on the University campus...and a shopping mall 200 meters away.

The Romanian countryside reminds me of the verse that Godliness with contentment is great gain.

That must have been an awesome, peaceful trip.

Is everything really as neat and organized as it looks on the pictures?

Thanks for sharing.

Yes, Anneke, even when they haul manure out in the field with the wagaon and the horse, they make small piles in the field, all the same size, all equally spaced.

But when you get in or near the big cities there is always trash: empty plasitc bottles and trash scattered around by the dumbster sites and along the RR tracks. At the U. in Iasi, there was an empty lot near our hotel that was a mess.

Wow! What a breathtaking train ride!

It's so funny how places in Europe can almost seem like they've been trapped in a time capsule.

The architecture is beautiful!

The country side reminds me of Lithuania. It was so funny, in Lithuania, they chained their cows to little cement blocks in their fields. They could only roam as far as their ropes allowed.

But the hay in the fields were piled up in high stacks, just like you see in your photos.

Thanks so much for sharing!!! The only perspective that I've seen of Romania has been the sewers and the life below...

I have friends that have gone for ministry and that's where they went, it was so sad to see what happens when government dictates daily life and sets harsh restrictions for their people. They're still dealing with the back lash of that now (or were a few years ago).
